IP addresses explained
Your Internet Protocol (IP), address is not something you need to think about. It's always there and is layered with technology that make browsing on the internet more comfortable for users.
You are not connected to the internet at all times. You connect to a network - often an office or home or an open network, such as in a cafe - that is connected to the internet via an internet service provider (ISP).
Most times you connect to the network using the router who is responsible for assigning private IP addresses to each device on the network.
This allows it to move data between devices, making sure that the right content is delivered to the right place. Your ISP assigns a public IP address to websites. This is used as a identifier for your entire network. The public IP address includes details such as the ISP to which it belongs and the general location of any server to which you are connected. It could be an address or zip code.
What all this means is that when you talk about hiding your IP address, you're effectively trying to obscure the network you're connected to and all the information that goes with it.

It is extremely easy to hide your IP address using VPN (virtual private network).
When you connect to a VPN, you send encrypted requests which your ISP forwards to one of the VPN's servers which will forward them to their final destination. The VPN hides your public IP address so that requests arrive from the server, not your network.
